Living on Snatched Time

Mom and Baby

Searching back now to obtaining only one kid, I have to laugh at myself. I bear in mind thinking This is the hardest point. This has to be the hardest factor in the globe. And then you add an additional kid and all of a sudden you uncover your self reminiscing fondly about the days of only one particular baby. And how when the kid went down for a nap, you had some time to your self! To do whatever you wanted! But now when Kid #1 is down for a nap, who knows what Kid #2 requirements? Maybe Kid #2 is also sleeping (if magical unicorns have sprinkled fairy dust more than your property that day) but most usually, they’re not. They’re awake. And they need to eat or play or have their diaper changed or who knows what.

Please do not misunderstand, I love these babies! Love ’em so considerably I’m afraid I’ll pop ’em if I squeeze also hard. But with Maggie joining our squad I’ve been realizing lately how a lot a mom has to live on tiny snatches of  time.

45 minutes at 5:30 am to run to the gym and function out although each children are asleep.

5 minutes when you get home to shower.

five a lot more minutes to try to make your hair look okay and maybe slap on some makeup.

2 minutes even though the older a single is consuming a snack to respond to an e mail or text.

1 minute even though they’re playing in the living area to hide in the kitchen and consume an Oreo, so you do not have to share it.

2 minutes following a 3 am feeding to respond to yet another email even though your eyes will nevertheless stay open.

All of these little bits of snatched time are where we moms have to try to do one thing for themselves. At times I discover myself searching at Ryan and thinking Why do you have so a lot a lot more tiiiiiime than I do?! I’m not even sure that he does, with the exception that I’m breastfeeding so I do have a little ball and chain with me lots of the time. I feel as moms we just push ourselves to always be obtainable, and so something that is just for ourselves (showering included) feels like it need to be completed quick and gotten out of the way so we can have a tendency to the loved ones once again.

I’m really questioning how we’re gonna function all of the scheduling out once I’m back to operate complete time. I know that women do it all the time, and I’m double-lucky to have a husband who functions at residence and folks in town to assist with childcare. But correct now, it nevertheless appears daunting.

Moms, do you really feel like you reside on snatched time as well? And please inform me I’m not the only one who hides even though they consume a cookie so their kid won’t take it. 😉 xoxo
