A couple of hours ago The Avalanches tweeted they would be appearing at next year’s Glastonbury Festival (here).

The tweet just says, “We are playing Glastonbury!

The Avalanches released their debut album ‘Since I Left You’ in 2000 featuring more than three,500 vinyl samples, the record was an epic feat and contained the genre-spanning anthems Frontier Psychiatrist and Since I Left You.

After a DJ set tour with their sophomore album Wildflower the Australian duo of Tony Di Blasi and Robbie Chater have just embarked on a live tour. with a backing band at Splendour a line-up it will reprise for the upcoming shows. Their live backing band features a drummer, and two vocalists who recreate most of the vocal components. Di Blasi and Chater will play keys and guitar and trigger the samples that can’t be recreated live. Let’s hope it is the full reside outfit that will be playing at Glastonbury Festival next summer. They’ve not appeared at festivals on these shores as a reside outfit given that 2001 when their performances have been described as “jawdropping”.

Radiohead are the very first act to be confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2017 which will take location at a farm in Pilton, Somerset over 5 complete days on the final weekend in June, that is from Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th June 2017.
