Certainly there’s no way in the planet that I have a two year old. Henry turned two on Tuesday and more than the weekend we celebrated with close friends and family. Thought I’d share some snaps from his celebration setup and a small update on this two year old dude!
These are the days, guys. These are the excellent old days. We’re in them proper now, watching Henry develop up and become a particular person with his personal quirks and idiosyncrasies. I was taking photos although every person was singing him Satisfied Birthday, and to watch his sweet tiny face just broke my mama heart apart. He was part proud that it was his birthday, portion bashful that every person was singing and seeking at him, component happy to be with all of his close friends and family members, and element just ready to stuff a cupcake in his mouth. And when we told him to blow out the candles and he did it, actually blew them out by himself without any assist, I was entirely taken aback. This tiny person whose entire physique used to match in my two hands is a little boy now. And there’s no going back — he’s only going to get older and larger and a lot more independent. If there’s something that’ll cease you in your tracks as a parent, it’s watching your baby sit in a chair all by himself and blow out his own candles.
Ahead of his birthday when we asked him what type of celebration he wanted, his answer was often, “Cupcakes.” No Mickey Mouse, no Paw Patrol, no trucks or vehicles or any sort of theme — just… cupcakes. So there have been cupcakes. And other than that, just a handful of balloons and some blue and gold touches right here and there. We invited all of his small buddies more than and let them run loose in the backyard and play with toys, and they all seemed quite a lot content material. I’m sure in the future we’ll have lots of party games and organized entertaining, but for now we’re still in those sweet days exactly where you can just let a roomful of toddlers do their factor. We had some awesome cookies produced by Bird Treats and sent them home with our guests. It was such a sweet, basic morning, and we wrapped up the celebration feeling so grateful for all of the men and women who surround Henry and are helping shape him into a small boy.
And if you’re asking yourself what tends to make ol’ Hank tick these days, here’s a tiny rundown. He loves to play. He wakes up and says, “Play all day?” Soon after which he promptly tells you regardless of whether he’s wet or dry, and then asks where Maggie is. His greatest buddy is his Mimi, and when she’s in the area there’s pretty a lot no use in attempting to talk to him. He’ll study books with you all day. He gets upset with a alter of pace — if we’re at property and require to go to Target, he’ll cry. Then when we’re at Target and have to go home, he’ll cry once more. He asks concerns about almost everything, and is not satisfied unless you give him a grownup answer. It is like he knows if you’re making some thing up to placate him. We learned a long time ago that he’s a logical dude, and he likes to have items explained to him. Causes for why things come about, and all that. He loves being outdoors and undertaking yard perform with dad. He’ll bring his stool and stand by me at the kitchen sink and “help” me do dishes. He’s quite easygoing with a side helping of sturdy-willed. And he’s a total jokester. This kid loves to laugh and be happy, which tends to make my heart swell.
So that’s him. And now I have a two year old and I have no concept how we got right here so fast. I’m thankful every single day for the ways in which this tiny boy is creating me a far better person, and I virtually don’t remember our lives without him. What an honor it is to be a mama, you guys. xoxo
