As predicted by eFestivals, Friday night headliners Radiohead are the very first act to be confirmed for Glastonbury Festival next year. Yesterday there was evidence of this impending announcement with the band’s bear face logo getting painted in front of the iconic Pyramid Stage, as could be viewed on the BBC Glastocam (right here).

The official confirmation was posted on the Twitter (here) along with an image of the style, and a comment which stated, “Friday 23 June 2017 @radiohead

2017 will see Thom Yorke and co. celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal 1997 look, an anniversary which also coincides with the release of their third breakthrough album, ‘OK Computer’.

Members of Radiohead normally attend the Festival every year, the band last appeared at The Park in 2011 as surprise specific guests, the exact same stage Thom Yorke appeared upon in 2010, and on the Other (NME) Stage in 1994. Radiohead have previously headlined Glastonbury Festival’s Pyramid Stage in 2003, and in 1997.

Guitarist Ed O’Brien talking to the BBC earlier this month, mentioned “it will be excellent to play there. I would adore to, I mean I go to Glastonbury every single year, it’s my carnival, to be asked to play at Glastonbury once more would be magic. And I also consider that Glastonbury for us is type of like our spiritual home. It is the mother of all festivals, we’ve been quite fortunate we’ve been asked to play festivals all more than the world, and there is some numerous fantastic ones, but there’s practically nothing like that one particular. Absolutely everyone who leaves that Festival you happen to be with our tribe and that’s what I really feel like. Getting in Shangri-La at three o’clock in the morning, it doesn’t get better than this.  When we leave our faith is restored in humanity. You leave, and it’s like ‘people can be great can not they, men and women can be absolutely wonderful.’ So, yeah it will be excellent to play there.”

They are the 1st act to be confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2017 which will take location at a farm in Pilton, Somerset over five full days on the final weekend in June, that is from Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th June 2017.
